England’s winning tenor to open the Amex

England’s winning tenor to open the AmexMartin Toal, one of the UK’s leading operatic tenors, is to open the brand new Brighton and Hove Albion stadium on Saturday 30th July 2011.

Martin, known as ‘England’s winning tenor’, has apparently been chosen by the Seagulls as a good luck charm – the England football team has won without conceding a single goal every time he has sung the national anthem before the game – now six times! Obviously, Martin did not sing for England at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa…

Martin has sung the national anthem at rugby and football stadia throughout the UK including at Old Trafford, the Millennium Stadium, Twickenham, and Wembley for what was England’s first competitive international at the new stadium.

“I am thrilled to be opening the new Brighton and Hove Albion stadium,” commented Martin.

“It is a great honour to be associated with a club that’s on the way up and I hope that my voice inspires them to another great season so that it is not too long before this magnificent stadium is playing host to football’s premier elite!”

Martin will sing before the Seagulls take on Tottenham Hotspur at the Amex on Saturday 30th July 2011.
