Brighton Champions victory parade

Brighton Champions victory paradeThousands of Brighton and Hove Albion fans were given the chance to cheer their Championship-bound heroes on Sunday, as the Seagulls took to the seafront in an open-top bus.

Manager Gus Poyet, his players and directors of the club rode from the Council building in Grand Avenue, along the seafront to Madeira Drive.

Applauded by a sea of blue and white, the parade gave Poyet and the players a chance to thank their fans. Poyet thanked the fans for support and paid tribute to his players, before kicking off a medley of Seagulls songs.

Chairman Tony Bloom also took the opportunity to announce a friendly against Premier League side, Tottenham, at the new Amex stadium on 30th July 2011.

Poyet, speaking to the official Seagulls’ website, said, “I would like to thank all supporters on behalf of the team and the club for all of their tremendous support throughout the season. We will be working hard through the break to prepare for the Championship next season and look forward to seeing you all at the Amex.”

The parade came the day after the Seagulls’ final match of the season – a 1-1 draw away against Notts County.
