Poyet looks forward to Sunday’s Seagulls parade

Poyet looks forward to Sunday’s Seagulls paradeBrighton and Hove Albion boss, Gus Poyet, has voiced his thanks to Seagulls’ fans and has said he and the players want the parade on Sunday (8th May) to be a thank you to them.

The open-top bus parade will take place along Brighton Seafront, with the League One Champions setting off from the council offices in Grand Avenue at around 5.30pm. The Seagulls will make their way along the seafront to Madeira Drive, where the players will be presented to the fans from the mezzanine level.

Speaking to the official Seagulls’ website, he said: “”Sunday’s parade is a great opportunity for us to say thanks [to the fans]. I am looking forward to seeing the whole city out and having a great day celebrating together. That is what the players would like and that is what the fans deserve. I am really looking forward to it.”Poyet is also looking forward to the club’s future at their new stadium, the Amex.

He said: “I hope we can make the Amex very special. First we all have to get used to it. The team have to do that, but it will also be the same for the fans.

“We can do that by training there, however fans will have to get used to the atmosphere, their surroundings, who is going to be leading the singing, but slowly, slowly it is going to be so much more impressive than Withdean.

“I am sure with a little bit of effort from both parts – us performing and the fans supporting – it is going to be a great place for football. It’s a new league, and we have to adapt, the sooner the better, as we want to make sure it’s a fortress.”

Albion are currently on a four-day training break in Southern Spain, as part of Poyet’s preparations for his assault on the Championship.

The Seagulls take on Notts County on Saturday 7th May. Kick off 3pm.
