Man arrested on suspicion of murder after Brighton flat deathA 21-year-old man is in custody after being arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was found with stab wounds in his Brighton flat.

Emergency services were called to a flat in Norfolk Square, Brighton, at 7.40pm on Sunday 29 April 2012, after a report that the 40-year-old man who lived there alone had received stab wounds.

The man was treated by paramedics at the scene but was pronounced dead shortly after 9pm. Police are in the process of tracing next of kin who do not live in Sussex.

A post mortem is expected to take place this afternoon (Monday 30 April 2012). A knife was recovered in the flat and is being examined to see if it is connected with the death.

A 21-year-old local man was arrested at a Brighton address at 9am this morning (Monday 30 April 2012) on suspicion of murder. He is currently in custody for interview and further enquiries.

Detective Chief Inspector Nick Sloan of the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime team said: “We do not believe that this was a random attack and we are keen to hear from anyone who was in the Norfolk Square area early yesterday evening and who saw any suspicious activity.
