Brighton Preview: Alt-J @ Concorde 2 - 4 nov 2012Originally coming together in Leeds in 2007, Alt-J – named after a keyboard shortcut – now reside in Cambridgeshire and have this year released their debut album, ‘An Awesome Wave’, receiving widespread praise and critical acclaim along with a dedicated and growing fan base.

It is difficult to place them in any genre, with comparisons being drawn to many bands including Radiohead and Foals, and styles like ‘folk-step’ being branded around. One thing’s for sure: this band are carving out their own unique niche in today’s music scene. Probably most easily described simply as ‘guitar music’, Alt-J make clever and well written songs, with pop sensibilities and more cultural references than you can shake a stick at.

With an unbelievably busy summer schedule, Alt-J have been performing at shows and festivals all across the globe before embarking on their UK tour this month, so their live show is sure to be a slick and sharp as their debut offering. This band is most definitely on the up and we are looking forward to seeing them play at Concorde 2 this coming Sunday.
