Paddle Round The Pier 2012 music line up announcedThe musical line up for Paddle Round The Pier 2012 beach festival in Brighton has been confirmed.

A fantastic selection of local and more well-known acts will be playing to a packed crowd at this year’s Paddle Round The Pier – one of Brighton’s famous charity beach events.

Music has always been a big part of the free charitable event, which takes places on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 July 2012, on and around Hove Lawns.

And the Paddle Round The Pier 2012 line-up promises to really add to the atmosphere with a fantastic mixture of musical styles for all the family to enjoy.

From the inspiring sound of the Soul of the City Choir, to the beats of the Carnival Collective, the bands will take to the stage to play to crowds of what is estimated this year to reach nearly 50,000 across the weekend.

Saturday’s line up: Shoreham Allstars; Soul of the City Choir; Angharad (a finalist from Live and Unsigned); Beautiful Word; House of Hats; Common Tongues; Half Hour Hotel; Jackson and the King Kickers; Co Co & the Butterfields (a finalist from Live and Unsigned); Fundubmental; Buster Shuffle and Boy Com.

Sunday’s line up: Rockshool UK; Soul of the City Choir; Brighton and Hove Brass Band; Luck in the Lights (Live and Unsigned finalist); Quackhouse (Live and Unsigned finalist); Sashi and the Wild Beans; Zora and the Tatsmiths; Wide Eyed Order; Wille and the Bandits; Carnival Collective and Letz Zep.

This year four of the acts were selected from the Brighton regional finals of the Live & Unsigned competition.

And it’s not just local bands playing either. Buster Shuffle, Wille and the Bandits and rock cover legends Letz Zep are all travelling from afar to help support the event.

Jennifer Collins, co-ordinator for the bands, said: “I would like to give a massive thank you to all the bands as we couldn’t do it without them. They all give their time for free and this really helps bring people to the event and donate money to hear them play.

“Tuaca are sponsoring the stage this year which is amazing, plus Buzz Electrics are generously providing the P.A. system.”

This year’s charities are the RNLI, Winston’s Wishes and Surf Action. A suggested £1 entry donation per person is suggested in order to help raise as much as possible for these worthy causes.
