Visible from above and on the side of the enormous geo dome on one of the world’s most iconic structures, the site is recognised as having significant advertising value and will be totally unique in terms of its scale.

Speaking in response to the disclosure, Peter Duncan, co-founder and CCO at said: “We had hoped to keep these negotiations private until the deal was done. The site represents a great opportunity for us as a global travel business and is the first in a series of major landmark sites around the world that we are seeking to secure.”

Gap Daemon, on behalf of the owners, is seeking planning advice to enable the proposed advertising to take place. Presence marketing using promotional sites is becoming increasingly popular with advertisers, with the successful use of branded stadiums and arenas.

While the exact fee for the site is not being disclosed as negotiations are not yet concluded, Gap Daemon have contracted brand marketing specialists Brands with Influence (BWI) to help develop creative ideas, and evaluate the commercial benefit for this and other sites across the globe.

On the proposed advert on the pier, a council spokesman said:  “Having had a quick look at their press release our planning team would advise them to make planning applications for an advertisement and for listed building consent.”
